This Cyber Monday, give the gifts of health.

Cyber Monday is just a few days away now. You might be puzzled about what gifts to give to your loved ones, specially if they already have anything. As a healthcare professional please allow me to suggests some gifts that you can give to extend the life and health of your loved ones.

Sleep Health

Manta Mask - I have owned several of these and I am addicted to using it at this time. It keeps your eyes under a 'black out' even when it is completely light out. So if you know anyone who works shift work and is constantly changing sleep patterns, they will definitely be grateful for this thoughtful gift.

Which brings me up to the next sleep aid. Sleep buds - you feel like going to sleep but your significant other is still wanting to watch TV. If you are like me, I can't fall asleep with irregular noise in the background. I need 'white noise' which I play from an app onto my speakers. But this interferes with my wife's audio so that is quite the challenge. Well, with the sleep buds you can drown the noise and fall asleep and stay asleep.

Dental Health

Good oral health can help control and/or lessen the risk associated with heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy, and other conditions. It can also improve self-esteem because healthy teeth and gums are important to how people feel about themselves.

Recently I went for my 'check up' at the dentist and they commented that my gingival health could use some help. They recommended this electronic toothbrush because of it's gingival massaging feature and I have been using it since.

Related to this gift, here is another electronic device that is very good to improve your gum-dental health. Waterpik

Physical Health

It is clear that there is a definite link between physical health and mental health. Aerobic exercise will definitely improve overall health, but specifically blood pressure, blood sugar control, triglycerides, and even happiness (through the secretion of chemicals in the brain that cause/trigger happiness). Not all people can get up and 'run' because of the pain or difficulty of high impact aerobic exercise. This is why I recommend you consider these 2 alternatives.

The Ski Erg machine - there are several brands to choose from. But this one includes all you need to get started.

The elliptical machine - this will simulate running form but significantly decrease the chance of injury associated with running.

Row Machine - this is the rolls royce of rowing machines. It is also very pricey, but there are othe roptions

Mental Health / Gratitude

In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. So consider gifting this or a similar gratitude journal so that your loved ones can start working on gratitude and increase their happiness in return.

Wow Dr. Carlo I surprised to get your email. It's been a long time since I've seen anything about you. It looks like you are doing much better than you were a few years ago, I hope that everything is going great for you. Peace be with you.
